Liam Huennekens
Title: Innocent
Protagonist: jury
Point of view: Third Person
Conflict: person vs. society

Murray was driving his cherry red Chevy with new good-year tires in downtown Olympia Washington on a warm midsummer' night. He was going to the Home-Depot down in Tumwater when he was pulled over by a police officer.
“ Evening officer how may I help you?”
“Sir you are under arrest"
“ I’m confused??”
“ Your under arrest!”
“On what charges?”
“Shoplifting.”
“I haven’t done such a thing!”
“ A witness of the robbery provided us with the license plate number that is on your truck.” “Who?”
“She reported to our station as anonymous.”
“ This is a mistake…”
“ No and as evidence to the robbery may I see the Bag sitting in the passengers seat please?” “Alright…”
“May I see the receipt please?”
“Yes let me get it…”
(Murray searched through bag) “ I’m sorry officer it seems to be missing.”
"Just as I thought!" " Sir please get out of your vehicle and stand with your hands on your head facing the vehicle!"
"...Wow just what I need right now..." Murray thinks. "I am going to have to go to court, get a lawyer, uggh..."
" Sir you are under arrest for theft, you have a right to remain silent, anything you say may be used against you in a court of law." (The officer cuffs Murray)
"Please step into the back of my patrol car"
"God...I wonder what Sal will think of this..."

-Later in Murray's house-

Sally was cleaning her white porcelain sink of the spaghetti and Italian Bread She and Murray had had for dinner that night when there was a knock at the door. "Coming!" Shouts Sally.
" Hello officer, how may I help you?"
"Hello Sally." "Lets skip the formals and get right to it." "Your husband was just recently arrested on one account of robbery."
"What!" " that can't be him!"
" We have him in the station's hold right now"
" This can't be happening..."
" Would you like to see him?"
" Yes I would..."

-Later at the station-

"Murray!" "Why?"
" Sal... I haven't done anything wrong." "This man believes me to have stolen a bag of groceries that I had Just bought at Target." "You know that check your receipts at the door before you leave correct?"
"true however... there is only one person on watch you could sneak past..."
" whose side are you on!"
"I cannot tell your true intentions..." Sally says as she starts crying...
"I haven't done anything wrong..."
" I cant believe you..."
" But I........" "I will not be found guilty because I am Innocent"
"We will see"

-Later in a court room-

" Alright. you cant loose this case you have been charged with a crime that is not of your doing." says Murray's Lawyer " You should not even have to go to court, it was not you who committed the crime."
" You are correct, but we will see what the judge decides..." Says Murray with a sad smile.

-Much arguing and bickering later...

" We the jury find the defendant guilty of all charges"
“What in the name of god???” This is not good….” Sobs Murray

The end of the story is missing...
